Letter from the NWAA President
January 2007 - I wanted
to give you an update on what the NWAA has been up to. Please feel
free to forward this to any other NHS wrestlers or family of NHS
wrestlers.
Logistics - We have elected officers, registered as a non-profit, and obtained
tax ID's. A special thanks to AJ Kritzman for helping us with the legal nuts
and bolts...AJ completes UCONN Law in the Spring . We are off and running!
We are already starting to look at collecting dues for our 2nd year in operation.
Website -
It is always being updated, so check back periodically to see what
we've been up to. There are a number of dedications to Rich Hastings.
We will be adding a number of photos of Rich Hastings, wrestlers,
parents, and teams. Feel free to email any scanned photos to me or
the NWAA webmaster, Bruce Fairclough. Special thanks to Bruce
for his help in creating and maintaining our website...its a lot
of work.
Scholarships - The NWAA plans to distribute
both academic and wrestling camp scholarships. # and
$ are subject to the funds we have available. This year
we should be able to distribute at least $1000 in total (although we'll need
your help to generate these funds).
Remembering Coach Hastings - Check out the
Tree Ceremony that took place
on Alumni Day on 12/30/06. We are also planning to create a plaque dedicated to Coach
Hastings
for
the High School Awards/Trophy Case outside of the gym. In
addition, our website contains almost 80 dedications to Rich Hastings memory

Shirts - As a fund raiser, we will be selling
Polo shirts embroidered with "Newington
Wrestling". Please let me know if you are interested...and I'll save a
shirt for you in your size.
Contacts - We have a spreadsheet (via
the Yahoo NWAA Group) with many of the wrestlers that
came through the NHS wrestling program.
If
you have additional names or
contact information or see any errors, please let us know. We'd really like
to flush out this list, so any help with email addresses would be apreciated.
Stats - We have a spreadsheet with
the statistics for every varsity wrestler/match and award.
It is very exciting to see all of these accomplishments
summarized in one document. If you see any errors or have additional information,
please let me know. Special thanks to Tim Walsh who has been maintaining these
stats for the last several years....lots of work.

Dues and Donations - Dues are payable now for 2007.
If you haven't paid yet, or are interested in joining,
please mail a completed Membership
Application along
with a check for $20 to Kevin Zoeller, 12 Nutmeg Court, Simsbury CT 06070.
Members obtain a NWAA car window sticker (see below) and help to give
back to the Newington Wrestling Team. If you are already a member and haven't
received your car sticker, let me know. If you are interested in offering your
time or expertise to the NWAA, (Membership, Remembrance, Scholarships, or Fund
Raising), let me know.
Interested in making a charitable donation for the NWAA Scholarship Fund? Simply
include it with your dues. Donations to the NWAA Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.
Dues - Dues for 2007 are now due and payable.
Make checks payable to...NWAA (memo stating 2007 dues). For
